Heidelberg FEMTO-LASIK

Femto-LASIK is the most commonly used laser correction method. It is used to correct myopia up to -10.00 dpt, farsightedness up to approx. +4.00 dpt and astigmatism up to approx. -6.00 dpt.

With Femto-LASIK, a corneal flap approximately 0.12 mm thick is first prepared using a femtosecond laser and folded to the side. Laser correction can therefore be carried out in deeper layers of the cornea and can therefore compensate for greater vision defects than LASEK. After the laser treatment, the “flap” is folded back and heals within a few hours.

FEATURES OF FEMTO-LASIK AT A GLANCE
  • good predictability of the target refraction
  • The correction takes place in deeper layers after the corneal incision
  • depending on the corneal thickness
  • rapid vision recovery within a few days
  • Post-correction possible (by lifting the flap again)

COMPLICATIONS/RISKS

There can never be a 100% guarantee of success with surgical interventions in medicine. With the refractive surgery procedures used today, the risk of serious complications is considered to be very low thanks to modern technology. The risk is reduced to a minimum through precise preliminary examinations, careful surgical technique, ongoing employee training and the latest equipment. Most complications can be treated well with medication or surgery, but compliance with follow-up examinations is important. Once we have determined the appropriate treatment method, we will inform you in detail about the risks and complications of treatment and will of course be available to answer your questions by telephone at any time.
